Non-ferrous scrap is metal waste without significant iron content — base metals such as aluminium, copper, lead, nickel and zinc, or alloys such as brass. Mixed fractions often contain traces of precious metals.

Process

Separating until a smelter can use it

Depending on quality and composition we decide which non-ferrous concentrate an input material is processed into.

Because natural reserves of these metals are becoming scarcer, their recycling is gaining importance — and because production from ore is highly energy-intensive, every tonne recovered cuts CO₂ emissions considerably.

The Müller-Guttenbrunn Group specialises in separating these metals so that the concentrates can be turned into new raw materials in downstream smelters. We source all kinds of non-ferrous metals as well as complex mixtures of them.

The separation happens at MGG Metran in Kematen an der Ybbs — through a combination of physical processes whose sequence is different for every input material.
